Robust Varietals and IPDM
The latest Agronomical research informs our selection of hardy, disease- and pest-resistant varietals. Further, encouraging birds and spiders which feast on coffee pests and fungi is integral to our Integrated Pest and Disease Management protocol. Both these measures reduce our use of pesticides and fungicides dramatically.
Life On The Farm
20 women and 30 men are permanent employees on our estate. Each is a member of the Fazenda California family and working here offers superior living conditions, safety, health, job security, education, development and fulfilment for them and their families. In fact, our workers gladly work here till they retire!
Education Fuels Growing
Fazenda California promotes growth and personal development through education and skill development programs via Patronage Union of Jacarezinho, the FAEP/SENAR system, and by offering literacy and high-school classes in the evenings. The “Kids of the Coffee” program has also ensured the children living on the farm succeed at school.
Harmonizing With The Community
Music has the power to heal and bring a community together. Recognizing this, Fazenda California has been instrumental in encouraging the youth to sing in the locally-renowned Light Missionaries Choir. This teaches them cooperation and respect that lead to harmony, and awaken a deeper understanding of their culture and heritage.
