Abiding passion; Fine coffee

Beans born out of love

Our family is originally from Monza in Italy. Our grandfather moved here to El Salvador in 1900 with the aim of growing the best coffee the world has ever known. Since then, our family-owned estate in southwestern El Salvador has been keeping his vision alive by producing fine coffees through a blend of traditional and new-age techniques. Talnique, La Libertad has been our home since then and our deep, abiding love for coffee and the community have been the twin pillars that keep the banner of Finca San Carlos flying high.

A dream fulfilled

The aroma of coffee drew Mauricio Borgonovo to leave his home in Monza, Italy and sail 10,000 kilometres to South America; he knew that El Salvador’s fertile land was the perfect place to plant his roots and watch his dream flourish. The San Carlos estate was established in 1900 as the culmination of all his hard work and dedication and a tangible expression of his burning desire to grow the best coffee in the world. Three generations of the Borgonovo family have loved and nurtured this land and the beans it bears.
