Hello Shadiah!Fair Trade is a movement established to support fair and sustainable trading relationships between producers, companies, and consumers. It empowers its people by building a better trading infrastructure for both the buyer and seller. Here is a list of how Fair Trade benefits both parties:Protects producers from risks of exploitative trades.Equitable prices, long-term contracts, and more sustainable livelihoods.Safer working conditions; prevents discrimination and child-labor in the workplace.Community development funding.Production premium quality products.Environmental protection.Better and longer trading relationships. Many agricultural and non-agricultural products undergo the Fair Trade certification–cacao, banana, teas, textiles, and gold to name a few. However, the most well-established commodity is coffee. And Fair Trade is fixated in helping smallholder (family-owned) farmers so they can have access to international markets. So, whenever you see the Fair Trade logo a bag of coffee at the grocery, you can be sure that the item meets strict social, environmental, and economic standards.
