Coffee designs are made using espresso as the base. These designs usually include rosettes, hearts, tulips and trees. To create these designs, baristas use a stainless steel pitcher that contains about one third hot milk. The milk is then mixed with the espresso and put on top of a person's coffee. Latte art can take some practice to perfect but it is easier than you might think and fun too! Although it's not in the scope of their job, many baristas will take it upon themselves to be creative in the coffee they serve with lattes.
