It’s always good to know the difference between various coffees in terms of strength and caffeine levels. So which one will give you a better kick in the morning – Americano coffee vs regular coffee?
The difference between Americano and coffee is that the Americano is made of a double espresso shot and topped up with hot water and regular coffee is made in a drip machine.
This results in the differences in the caffeine levels between Americano vs coffee. While a cup of Americano typically contains around 95-150mg of caffeine, the drip coffee tends to have around 95-200mg of caffeine, making the drip coffee stronger.
But the Americano caffeine levels also depend on how many shots you use. When ordering a large Americano coffee from Starbucks, it can contain 3 or more shots of espresso, making it stronger than a standard drip coffee.
And when it comes to espresso vs Americano, even though the taste of espresso is more concentrated and intense, the Americano typically contains two espresso shots, making it twice as strong in terms of its caffeine levels.
The second difference between coffee and Americano is in terms of taste. When comparing the taste between Americano vs drip coffee, Americano can have a stronger taste because of the darker espresso roast.
The difference in taste between Americano vs drip also depends on the type of coffee beans used. The Americano tends to have a richer taste but if you use medium roast single-origin for your drip coffee, it will have a more delicate flavor profile.
When it comes down to the facts, the Americano vs coffee caffeine levels are greater in drip coffee but when it comes to the taste, Americano can often taste stronger.
