It is not good for your kidneys, but it's not as bad as most people think. For someone with healthy kidneys who drinks espresso moderately and doesn't also consume coffee, the effect of a caffeinated espresso per day would only be expected to lead to a 1% increase in their risk of kidney dysfunction (those that drank coffee or those with preexisting urinary tract obstruction).
However, those who already have impaired kidney function should definitely avoid drinking any caffeinated espresso. Those with chronic renal insufficiency should drink limited quantities if they do indulge in this beverage.
